The bankers in our group had been looking forward to the trip to Daegu Bank. The head of economic research described the economy in Daegu and provided the statistics about Daegu Bank. It is the largest bank in the city, employing about 2000 people. There are three branches in Seoul and a few in other cities. Among the 200 banks, there are five women managers.
After lunch, we headed for the Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Market, a place that has been distributing medicinal herbal materials since 1658. It is a hub that supplies many other countries as well as Korea. The statue shows how the herbs, minerals, and animals parts are ground into powders from which pills are made. The ear is marked to indicate where to place acupuncture needles. Our guide Min stands by festival food displayed in a nearby market dreaming of the celebration he will have when we have gone home and allowed him some peace and quiet. (Not really. He has promised to miss us a lot!)
