Living like royalty

We lived like royalty on Friday, especially during our tour of a fairly new and very nice museum of “Gaya” culture, from about the first 500 years C.E. (Left to right: Prince David Feuerstein, Queen Kate Campbell, Mr. Lee (the magistrate of Goryeong County and our gracious host), Prince Doug Rohde, Princess Jessica Walters, and Prince Kyle Quanbeck.
We also attended the Goryeong Rotary Club meeeting, and went out for dinner afterwards.  This was an especially warm and friendly group.  They were very interested in us, and happy to answer questions about themselves.  We drank the customary pre-dinner toast with our choice of maekju (beer) or a shot of soju (a sort of everyday drink in Korea, about 20% alcohol, tasting like a not-very-strong martini).  That’s Assistant District Governor Gu Dong Bok (just Mr. Gu to us -- Korean names are usually written last name first) back there giving the toast.  He spends a lot of time with us and is often the last person to go home at night after making sure everyone has a ride home.  We’ll drink to that!
